Roald Dahl Stamps

I loved Roald Dahl books when I was younger. I think Witches might even make the top five list. Now, the Royal Mail in the UK has produced a special set of stamps, featuring drawings by illustrator Quentin Blake (who collaborated with Dahl on much of his work). Charles Dickens is up for a set later this year.
Wouldn't these be great as larger prints framed?!

Nail Polish Love: Gold Glitter Over Everything

I kinda have a thing for nail polish. I own way too many colors.

Luckily I work for an advertising agency that allows me to sport my flair :)

I think the gold glitter was one of the best purchases to date - it allows me to add a little something to all of the current colors I have.

Buttered bow tie noodles (Farfalle) with a heaping of cottage cheese on top is one of my favorite comfort foods. My mother used to make it for us when we were younger, and I am pretty sure it bored her to death to make it so often. And because of this nostalgia, I am slightly inclined to purchase the Farfalle bow tie.

It comes in a bunch of colors, but you can never go wrong with a black bow tie :)

I am probably one of the only people who get excited about daylight savings time switch this time of year.

I really like running outside in the morning, but when it starts to get cold...I don't like it as much. Add on the fact that it's pitch black and well, it gets really hard to roll out of bed. So the fact that I get to see the sun rise now makes things much better.

However in the weeks prior to the time change I started to really like running in the dark because of the clear skies filled with stars (that and it hasn't gotten ridiculously cold yet). I really can only spot the big dipper, but I have been trying to identify other constellations. I want to create some jewelry inspired by the view, but haven't found the right supplies just yet. These fellow Etsyians have created some excellent pieces.

It's sorta gotten to the point where it's too cold for ice cream.

Well, ok maybe it's never actually too cold for that.

But when it starts to get cooler out, I get excited for warmer desserts. Makes me think of my mom's apple pie, which is pretty much the most delicious thing ever.

A friend of mine (Katie Rooney of 3 Little Figs) also makes some awesome treats, like these apple cider donut muffins.

If you happen to be local to Boston, she does a ton of markets - totally worth checking out (store front is opening soon in Somerville)!

I have been eyeing this spiced pumpkin seed brittle too from etsy shop zugarhaus...

Who also makes this Mexican chocolate shortbread.

And there's these...pumpkin whoopie pies from CakeDarling. you know you can't go wrong with something like that.

The Girl with a Pearl Earring is a fantastic piece originally completed by Dutch painter Johannes Vermeer. The video below shows an artist reproduction of the piece, using a single Faber Castell pen and single line.

I thought I was ready for the Missoni/Target collaboration. I knew the pieces I wanted to buy, the in-store date, and I had a plan. Or so I thought.

The Target website crashed for multiple days and stores were empty. And now everything is on ebay for crazy inflated prices. But there is a way to still get in on the zig zag fun.

Yes, it feels a bit high school, but they don't say NKOTB just yet.

Brimfield Fair trip

I had heard for years about the Brimfield Fair, so the other weekend I decided it was time to make the trek out west to check it out.

While I found some great jewelry pieces that I plan to upcycle, I still felt that the prices were too high. Either way, I would totally go back. The thrill of a great find is too hard to resist!

The chandeliers in this tent were unbelievable. Some had old findings but new crystals, others were brand new.

I totally got sucked into the Royal Wedding this morning.

I went to do my yoga video (Jillian Michaels is killer!) and as soon as I turned on the TV, I saw William in the car.

Oof. It was all so romantic.

Luckily, they said that Kate wouldn't appear for about 45 minutes, so I got the yoga in before turning back to check out the dress. Loved the work Sarah Burton did!

I have been scouring sites for more details of the wedding (seriously sucked in at this point) and found these great shots of the Royal cake.

I have a super tiny deck.

But it has to be the best spot in my whole place (it comes close to my huge closet, which I have monopolized. no seriously. my husband uses the one in the other bedroom. it's horrible).

I can't wait for the warmer weather to come, when I can have breakfast outside on that little deck. It really makes for a great start to the day.

It's been a busy week at work, so I am playing catch up now on all the news. Just finished reading through this article by Truman Capote on the meetings he had with the late Elizabeth Taylor. Thinking I might have to buy "My love affair with jewelry" since I feel like that should be the title of my life! :)

Scout & Catalogue is my new favorite etsy shop for two reasons.

1. The colors, design, and details are fantastic. That little anchor on the first photo makes it my favorite!

2. A portion of the items (Scavenger series) are created from fabrics found in thrift stores and then upcycled, making them both unique and one-of-a-kind.
